Biography
Once upon a time in a cold country far far away..
Patrik Björkman was born and raised in the deep woods of Stockholm/Sweden. Patrik early got an interest for music with electronic influences thanks to video games and the wonderful synth pop tracks of the eighties.
In 2004, after a good part of a decade struggling to find a sound and genre that suit him, Gate 42 was born. He finally got a break when John Askew (Recoverworld Labelgroup) signed the track Flow to his Discover label. The track was a direct success with the highly acclaimed Tune Of The Week award on Armin Van Buuren’s - A State Of Trance radio show. Thanks to John and Armin Flow got signed to the Ministry Of Sounds Trance Nation compilation and was played by a good part of the top DJs.
A loss of faith in Trance music resulted in total silence and a huge studio-break where no more productions made in a couple of years. Out searching for new inspiration led him over towards House and Techno were he settled down for good and released a few tracks under his full-name alias Patrik Björkman … or so he thought.
All of a sudden a burst of fast paced beats and distorted basslines came rushing through his head and resulted in new music, now with more focus on drums and power instead of ambience and melodies. The new style got him to move from Discover to Discover Dark, the more tech influenced part of Recoverworld, were he feelt like home and could experiment with his sound without borders.
